As of September 7, 2007, the Montana Department of Livestock (DOL) is requiring testing for Equine Viral Arteritis on stallions 13 months of age and older imported into the state of Montana. These horses need a negative test from an approved laboratory within 30 days or import. Horses imported for exhibitions are exempt from this official order.  What this means to you. If you are planning on consigning a stallion 13 months of age or older to an upcoming sale, please plan ahead. The EVA blood test takes a week or so to get back. Call the DOL to get the list of the approved labs then get the test done so there is no question come sale time.
